Latest Happenings
I’m sure you’re extremely busy this time of the year enjoying the
great outdoors so I’m going to keep this newsletter short and to the point.
In this month’s newsletter I review a new tool from TrustyMax Tool’s and a new
product for wooden posts. In addition, I’ve included a new piece that I wrote on
how to properly clean granite countertops. Also, now that the summer season is
officially here, I’ve included several articles on yard and garden topics
including, how to install a bluestone patio, concrete patio construction, and a
great alternative product to traditional pressure treated lumber.
Lastly, I included an article on how to restore a lawn.
TrustyMax Tools’ All-in-One GO-2 Socket Review Video
I recently received in the mail the GO-2 Socket from TrustyMax Tools and put it
to practical use. The GO-2 Socket is a versatile 3/8” drive socket that supports
up to 9 socket types and 25 different socket sizes: SAE 3/8” thru 25/32” and
Metric 10mm thru 20mm. [Read On and Watch the Video]
Post Shields Review Video
I recently received in the mail a simple but neat little set of products for
protecting 4x4 wooden posts from lawn mowers and grass trimmers. They are called
Post Shields and are ideal for installing around 4x4 mailbox, deck, and fence
posts. Besides protecting posts from mowers and trimmers, Post Shields also
mitigate the risk for post damage caused by insects and moisture. [Read On and

How to Clean Granite Countertops Properly
When most people think of granite countertops they think of high quality and
durability. That granite stone is an extremely hard material that is impervious
to being damaged. In some respects they are right. However, granite is a porous
stone that can absorb liquids, and as a result, can be stained. Even water can
stain granite countertops. Fortunately in many cases a homeowner can remove the
stains with a little bit of effort and a couple of household products that can
normally be found in a kitchen cabinet or pantry. [Read On]
How to Install a Bluestone Patio
A bluestone patio is a beautiful and natural focal point for a backyard.
Installing a bluestone patio is fairly easy to do, albeit the stones can be
heavy, particularly if working with larger and irregular shaped ones. Bluestone
is available in standard paver sizes, as well as in large one inch thick
irregular shaped stone sheets that can be trimmed or cut to create unique
bluestone patio shapes. [Read On]
Concrete Patio Construction
Cement patios can create some beautiful outdoor living space. Concrete patios
are more ideally suited for warmer climates where frost lines are either
non-existent or minimal at worst. Cement patios are also more economical to
install compared to a brick or paver patio. DIY concrete patio construction is
fairly easy to do, albeit there is a significant amount of heavy work involved.

ProGuard Preservative Wood for Outdoor Applications
An alternative to traditional pressure treated wood, ProGuard preserved wood
products are an ideal choice for outside applications, such as decks, gazebos
and fences. Unlike standard pressure treated wood, ProGuard lumber uses a
NatureWood preservative system, that makes it more resistant to moisture and
insect damage. [Read On]
Restoring a Lawn
Over time lawns can begin to look a little long in the tooth. Insect damage,
weed infestation, and drought can play havoc on a lawn. Many homeowners often
think the only solution to restoring a lawn is to spread new and expensive
topsoil over the yard and then re-seed it. The effort and cost required is often
viewed so prohibitive by homeowners that they just say the heck with it and
continue to let the lawn go. [Read On]
