Removing Ceramic Wall Tiles from Ceramic Tile Shower Video
How to
Remove Ceramic Wall Tiles from a Ceramic Tile Shower Stall
By Mark J. Donovan
|
In this video, Mark Donovan of
HomeAdditionPlus.com shows how to remove ceramic wall tiles from a
ceramic tile shower.
Whether the ceramic tiles are
beginning to fall off the shower walls, or you simply want to update your
custom ceramic tile shower you will need to remove the old ceramic wall
tiles from the shower.
Removing ceramic wall tiles
requires a hammer, chisel, flatbar, utility knife, and a good set of work
gloves and safety goggles. I reiterate safety goggles. Safety glasses are
insufficient when removing ceramic wall tiles.

Removing ceramic
wall tiles from a shower is hard, dirty, dusty work so be prepared physically
and mentally.
To remove ceramic
wall tiles use a hammer and either a heavy duty chisel or flatbar to pry away the old
ceramic wall tiles. Hold the chisel or flatbar at a shallow angle while tapping
it with a hammer to remove the
ceramic wall tiles.
If the ceramic wall
tiles butt up against the ceiling, use a utility knife to score the seam where
the ceramic wall tiles meet the ceiling. This will help to prevent the ceramic tiles
from pealing away the textured ceiling.
