In this video, Mark Donovan of HomeAdditionPlus shows how to cut cement backer board.    Warning: When cutting cement backer board always wear eye protection. It is also advisable to wear a good pair of work gloves.   Cement backer board is a tough and abrasive material. Although you can use a skill saw to cut cement backer board, I do not recommend it. The saw will throw cement dust everywhere.   Instead you can cut cement backer board with a scoring knife for straight cuts, and a drill and jig saw for punch out holes.
