When planning a bathroom remodeling project consider the
use of ceramic tile. Ceramic tile is commonly used in bathrooms and in a number
of applications. One of the main reasons for this is the fact that ceramic tile
is so durable and traditional. Ceramic tile stands the test of time, both in
wear and fashion. Ceramic tile installation is also something that homeowners
can do, and as a result installation costs can be reasonable and contained.
Summarized below are a few bathroom ceramic tiling ideas
that you may want to consider in your bathroom remodeling project.

Custom Ceramic Tile Shower
Nothing beats the look and feel of a custom ceramic tiled
shower. Admittedly, some upfront work is required prior to installing the
ceramic tile, such as the installation of a shower pan membrane liner in the
shower base and cement backerboard on the walls. However, the payback both in
terms of personal satisfaction and the return on investment when you sell your
home is huge.
Using earth tone ceramic tiles is a great way to ensure your custom ceramic tile
shower never goes out of style.

Bathroom Ceramic Floor Tile
A bathroom ceramic
tiled floor can also accentuate a bathroom, and there is a plethora of ceramic
tile floor options to choose from. In addition, you can be creative by mixing
ceramic tiles to create interesting borders or other patterns. Bathroom ceramic
floor tile is also extremely durable. I would suggest, however, using larger
tiles, such as 12”x12” tiles as it makes the floor easier to install and clean.

Again, the installation of a bathroom ceramic tiled floor does require some up
front preparation in terms of subfloor preparation, however the costs and
efforts are minimal.
Ceramic Wall Tile
Installing ceramic
wall tile a portion of the way up bathroom walls is always a great way to add
color and texture to your bathroom. I would suggest going with light and earthy
colors to keep the bathroom feeling bright and open. In addition, I would
suggest using smaller ceramic tiles, such as 4”x4” ceramic tile.
Ceramic Tile as Accent Pieces
Ceramic tile can
also help to accent around windows and mirrors. I recommend using smaller
ceramic tiles in these applications, however you can use some color to contrast
the lighter wall, floor and shower colors.
The only area where I do not recommend using ceramic tiles is on the bathroom
countertop. Since a bathroom countertop is frequently wet, the chance for mold
and mildew growth in grout lines is much higher.
So if you want to transform your bathroom into an elegant masterpiece that is
both timeless and durable consider these bathroom ceramic tiling ideas in your
bathroom remodeling project.
