In this video, Mark Donovan of HomeAdditionPlus.com shows how to make a 90 degree angle cut, or square cut, with a miter saw when installing baseboard trim or molding. When installing baseboard trim or molding, often times you need to make a 90 degree angle cut, or square cut. Making a 90 degree angle cut is best done with a miter saw if you are installing baseboard trim or molding. You can make a 90 degree angle cut by positioning the baseboard trim or molding on its flat side on the miter saw.

Alternatively, if the board is narrow enough or the miter saw large enough you can make a square cut by positioning the baseboard trim or molding in its vertical position.

When making a 90 degree angle cut be sure to have the trim board pressed firmly up against the back of the miter saw and the base of it. Also, always start the saw blade spinning before pulling down on the miter saw.
