Removing Backer Board from Shower Stall Video

How to Remove Backer Board from a Ceramic Tile Shower Stall

By Mark J. Donovan

In this video, Mark Donovan of HomeAdditionPlus.com shows how to to remove backer board from a shower stall.

When installing new ceramic tile in a shower stall it is necessary to remove all of the old ceramic tile as well as the old backer board.

Removing backer board is heavy, dirty work so have a second pair of hands near by.

A screw gun works great for quickly removing screws that hold the backer board.

Always wear work gloves and safety goggles when removing backer board. Backer board is extremely coarse and brittle and has the tendency to crumble when pulling it off of the wall studs.
