Removing Shower Door Mold and Mildew

Wipe down Shower Doors after every use to Prevent Mold and Mildew Growth

By: Mark J. Donovan

Bathrooms and shower stalls are notorious breeding areas for mold and mildew growth. Humidity levels in bathrooms are high due to hot water shower use, and if the moisture is not quickly dispersed via evaporation or ventilation, mold and mildew will begin to quickly grow. Mold and mildew growth can be observed by either dark lines or slimy growth forming on the shower doors and walls.

Besides wiping down shower doors and walls with a squeegee or towel after showering, it is also necessary to periodically wash the shower doors and walls with a disinfectant to prevent and remove any mold and mildew growth.

Make sure you wash every nook and cranny of the shower stall. In particular, wash in corners and along shower door seams where water has the tendency to collect. Frequently when wiping down the shower stall after use, these areas are not sufficiently dried. Consequently it is these areas in particular that show signs of mold and mildew growth.

Besides wiping down shower doors and walls, also make sure the bathroom has a properly working bathroom fan that is vented to the outside. In addition, make sure it is used during showers to quickly vent the moist air to the outside of the home.

By using a bathroom fan you can remove the moisture laden air quickly and slow the growth of mold and mildew growth.

So before your bathroom begins to grown mold and mildew fungus, make sure you develop a regular routine for wiping down wet shower doors and walls. And in addition, pull out the disinfectant occasionally and always use a bathroom ceiling fan when taking a shower.
