November, 2009 Newsletter
Its been another wild and exciting
month here at HomeAdditionPlus.com. Due to the rapid growth in site traffic, and
after 5 years of hard work, I have decided to make HomeAdditionPlus.com my full
time endeavor. Yes, I quit my day job!
So what does that mean for you? It
means youll soon have access to an even greater library of helpful do it
yourself information. In addition, I plan to dedicate a good portion of my time
exploring and writing about new and innovative home improvement products. In
particular I want to focus on Eco-Friendly and Green home building materials and
systems.
With that in mind, I just discovered
a new window treatment product that can potentially reduce home heating bills by
up to 35%. And it wont cost you an arm and a leg. The company SolarChoice Heat
has a new window blind product that uses passive solar heating to provide
supplemental home heating. See my article: Green Window Treatments that Reduce
Home Heating Bills to learn more.
Due to the approach of winter I also
wrote a few new articles on home insulation. Many homes are either inadequately
or not properly insulated. In addition, though rolled fiberglass insulation is
the most frequently used home insulation product, there are better products on
the market that have higher R-values (thermal resistance levels). For example,
spray foam insulation not only can provide a higher R-value, but also can
provide several other benefits to your home. See my articles on Spray Foam
Insulation Pros and Cons, Installing Rolled Insulation and Foam Insulation
Sealant from a Spray Can to learn more on how you can save on this winters
home heating costs.
On the same vein, I also wrote a
couple of new articles on
insulating basement walls and
concrete block walls.
When finishing a basement it is extremely important to insulate the foundation
walls to provide a warmer and drier living space.
Switching to plumbing, I wrote
several new articles on toilet anatomy and fixing various toilet related
problems. You can spend a small fortune on paying a plumber to fix toilet leaks.
After reading my articles on How a Toilet Works, Installing a Toilet Tank
Fill Valve, How to Fix a Leaking Toilet and Installing a Toilet Flush Valve
you should be able to fix your own toilet and save yourself a bundle in the
process.
Finally, I wrote several new articles
on various simple home repair and maintenance projects including Replacing
Bifold Closet Doors", Removing Garage Floor Oil Spots and How to Clean Vinyl
Siding.
As always, if you have any specific
home improvement questions or would like to see specific new home improvement
related content send your questions to me at mark@homeadditionplus.com.
Again,
good luck with your DIY home improvement projects and have a great Thanksgiving.
