March 2009            Edition: 0039

HomeAdditionPlus.com March, 2009 Newsletter

In this month’s issue of the HomeAdditionPlus.com newsletter I have included a number of new articles on various aspects of home remodeling, green home building, product reviews, and home repair.

I recently tackled a home remodeling project that involved tearing out old carpet and removing old ceramic floor tile from a family room, and replacing it with a hardwood floor and some accent ceramic floor tiles. For tips on how to remove old ceramic floor tile and backerboard, check out my two new articles on removing ceramic tile flooring and removing screwed down backerboard. I also included a new article that is loaded with pictures on how to apply grout to new ceramic floor tile.

I recently had a site visitor ask questions on fire rated drywall. To answer his question I chose to write a new article on the definition of fire rated drywall. To learn more about this subject, such as where and when to use it, see my article on Fire Rated Drywall.

When deciding to remodel a home, or a portion of a home, remodeling budgets can quickly explode. In my new article on Budgeting a Home Remodeling Project I review some of the key ways you can keep your home remodeling project on budget.

Finally, I wrote a new article on the definition of green home building and home remodeling. The word “Green” is frequently overused so I wanted to explain the various aspects in assessing whether a home remodeling product is truly green. Sometimes a product is touted as green because of the material used, but it costs a small fortune in carbon pollutants to ship it from one side of the world to other.

I am also working on another video that should be out shortly on Installing Baseboard Trim in a family room, so stay tuned. I also have a number of new articles planned, so be sure to regularly stop by HomeAdditionPlus.com and check my What’s New section.

As always, if you have any specific home improvement questions or would like to see specific new home improvement related content send your questions to me at mark@homeadditionplus.com.

Again, good luck with your DIY home improvement projects and the warmer days!

Mark J. Donovan
