Dear HomeAdditionPlus.com Website Visitor,

Happy New Year!

With the holiday season just about behind us, its time to actually start planning and committing to some of those home improvement resolutions you’ve made. In this month’s HomeAdditionPlus.com newsletter we focus on a few topics associated with remodeling a bathroom, finishing a basement, and preparing a subfloor for ceramic tile.

My article on “Simple Bathroom Remodeling Tips” reviews some of the basic changes that you can make to your bathroom to bring it up to today’s standards, and homebuyers’ expectations.

In addition, my article on “Framing Floating Basement Walls” answers a site visitor’s question on how to frame basement walls in a region that has expansive clay soils.  If you live in an area that has expansive clay soil in it, it is imperative that you build floating walls in the basement when finishing the basement.

When it comes to installing ceramic tile floors, preparing the subfloor is critical. In my article on “Installing Ceramic Tile Backerboard on Subfloors", I answer a site visitor’s question on when and how to install ceramic tile backerboard on subfloors.

Due to the fact that we are still in the heart of winter I also thought it might be useful to discuss Snow Roof Rakes and Ice Dam Removal. Snow left on your home’s roof can potentially lead to ice dams and water damage to your home. See our articles on “Snow Roof Rakes” and “Ice Damming” to learn how to protect your home from snow and ice damage.

Finally I’ve added a couple of new videos to HomeAdditionPlus.com this month. One involves addressing another typical new years resolution – getting in shape. In my “Installing a Chin Up Bar Video” I show you how to install a simple and low cost chin up bar in your unfinished basement.  In my second video I show how to “Install a Carpet Stair Runner” on a wood stair case.
