Dear HomeAdditionPlus.com Website Visitor,

Though the month of October is primarily known for Pumpkins, Goblins and Halloween, it is also a great month of the year for outdoor home and yard projects. In particular, with its dry and comfortable air temperatures it’s an excellent month for re-shingling your roof and/or replacing old windows in your home.

If your home has got some years behind it, it may be worth taking a look at your roof and checking the shape of your shingles. It is better to find out this time of the year about potential roof leaks then to see the water stains forming on your ceilings in January.

If your home’s shingles are in need of repair then you may want to read our how-to article on shingling a roof.

If your windows do not operate correctly or the glass is hazy, you will want to read our article on replacing a window. Window replacement is a task that does not necessarily require a contractor and can save you a lot on heating bills come winter. Also we have two new E-books this month that we have announced on Installing windows and Installing Interior Window Trim. Each E-book is loaded with pictures and provides clear and easy to understand instructions on tackling these projects.

We also have a great product review on Azek Trimboards. Azek trimboards are made out of Cellular PVC and are manufactured for both interior and exterior home building applications. PVC trimboards are quickly gaining popularity as a replacement to wood based trim products due to their longevity and low maintenance. See our article on Azek Trimboards to learn more.

Finally, if you are considering a new ceramic tile flooring project then you will want to take a look at our new article on Ceramic Tile Flooring and Thinset mortar. This article explains the differences between using Thinset mortar and mastic, and how to use Thinset mortar on your ceramic floor tile project.

As always, if you have any specific Home Improvement questions or would like to see articles on certain subjects send me an email at contact@homeadditionplus.com.

Also, if you have pictures of your home or latest home improvement project that you want to share with the HomeAdditionPlus.com community [Click Here] and we will create your own home’s webpage.

Again, good luck with your home improvement projects and enjoy October.

Exterior Trim and Azek Exterior Trimboards

More and more homeowners are turning to man made exterior door and window trim products to lower home maintenance tasks, reduce building costs, and to extend the longevity of their homes. Ceramic Tile Flooring and Thinset Mortar

How to use Thinset Mortar when Installing Ceramic Tile Flooring

When installing ceramic tile flooring, you should use a thinset mortar versus an organic mastic adhesive. Though mastic comes ready-made and is easy to use, it does not stand up to the rigors required of ceramic tile flooring, even Type 1 Mastic. [Read More]
