Finally, we have
added many new home improvement and home repair articles to the
HomeAdditionPlus.com library. Take a look in our “Whats
New” section to see what might be of interest to you.
One of the more
interesting products I saw at the home shows was the technological advancements
in metal roofing. Quickly fading are the days of either having to choose from
corrugated metal roofs or large shiny red, green or blue residential metal
roofs. Today you can buy metal roof materials that look identical to asphalt
shingles and that install similarly. The latest metal roof products have
approximately the same size and shape of standard asphalt 3 tab or architectural
shingles, but at a fraction of the weight. Each metal shingle is coated with a
sand aggregate to give an exact appearance of traditional asphalt shingles. See
Metal Roof Shingle Advancements for more info.
Another set of
interesting products showcased at the Home Shows was the latest in composite
decking materials. Though mahogany decks look great, I have to say the composite
decking products are starting to look even better, particularly when you
consider maintenance. See our article on
Composite Decking Material Choices to learn
more.
I also spent some
time talking to residential architects on their products and services that they
offer. I have captured a summary of their products and services in the article
Architecture Design Services Process. If you
are considering building a custom home or even putting an addition on to your
home you should have a look.
We have also put
together a series of home product articles on
kitchen sink selection,
Bathroom accessory remodeling considerations,
indoor water fountains, and
home air filters.
Finally, we have added a series of articles on
custom home building, including articles on
custom home building for adult living,
obtaining a new home construction loan, and
custom home design floorplan considerations.
You will definitely want to check out these articles if a new custom home or
home addition is in your plans.
As always, if you have any specific Home Improvement
questions or would like to see articles on certain subjects send me an email at

home improvement projects and make the best of February. Spring is not too far
off!

Having a custom

I recently attended a home show in my area and spent some time talking to a
metal roof installation company on the value and benefits of DECRA metal
shingles. I was extremely impressed with their product and the overall
advancements in residential metal roofing. [Read

When planning to build a new custom home or
home addition, it may make sense to work with an architecture firm to develop
a quality architecture design. Frequently homeowners, who develop their own
architecture design and plans for a custom home or home addition, end up with
either an unapproved building permit, or even worse, a home or home addition
that does not meet their expectations. [Read
