How to Choose Safe
Interior Paint Colors
Safe Interior Paint Colors Help to Keep Your Home Looking Good and Home Buyer
Friendly

Interior painting is one of the most economical ways to
spruce up your home. If you plan to only live in your home or condominium a
few years it is wise to do any interior painting with safe room colors. Most home
buyers are turned off with dark or extremely vibrant looking paint colors.
In addition, dark paint colors can also appear dated and out of touch with
current times and trends. Consequently the best bet when it comes to
interior painting and safe colors is to use off-white or beige tones. Though
these types of safe paint colors may sound a bit boring, almost anything in
terms of furniture, flooring or window treatments can work with them.
|
As a result, even though a particular “safe paint color” may not be a
potential homebuyer’s preferred choice they often deem it livable, at least for
the short term.
If off-white or beige tones don’t suit your fancy, light earth tones are also
reasonably safe interior paint colors. They also help hide scuff marks and
fingerprints better than whites and beige tones. Earthy color paint tones that
are quite popular today are very lightly shaded browns, greens, blues and grays.
Again, like white and beige paint colors these interior safe paint colors can go
with nearly any type of furniture, flooring or window treatment.

When selecting an interior paint carefully consider the
amount of natural light that enters the room. If the room has limited natural
lighting then it is best to use a very light interior paint color. Conversely if
the room has plenty of natural lighting then a tinted earth tone color is a safe
paint choice. Also consider the mood and atmosphere you are trying to create in
the room. If for example the room décor is ocean themed then a light blue paint
color maybe the most appropriate. If, on the other hand, the room has more of a
country theme then a light beige or green may be a safe interior paint color.
|
| Also, consider your furniture and existing window treatments. If they are
dark in color then you may possibly want to go with a lightly shaded earth tone
that will complement it. A very lightly shaded brown, green or yellow color may
be most appropriate. Also consider painting the baseboard trim either the same color as the walls or
with a color that complements or accents the walls. |

To start the process of finding the right safe color interior paint for your
room or home, visit your local home improvement or paint store and pick up some
paint swatches or fan decks. Bring them home and see what colors work best with
your furniture, flooring and window treatments. Once you’ve narrowed down your
choices to two or three choices buy small samples of each and paint a few test
areas in your room or home to see which one looks best. Once you’ve determined
the right interior paint color you can then go back and pick up the required
amount of paint, along with paint brushes, rollers and masking tape.
